ESPN Radio Coastal, consisting of ESPN Radio Savannah AM 1400 and FM 104.3, ESPN Radio Coastal Georgia AM 790 and FM 103.7, ESPN Radio Okeefonokee AM 1350 and FM 98.5 and ESPNCoastal.com, announces the hiring of Kam Usury as a full-time show producer and on-air talent, effective July 1st, 2021.

A graduate of Savannah State University, Cum Laude with a degree in mass communications, Usury has spent the last year as a co-host on ESPN Coastal’s “Second Down” afternoon show, heard Monday-Friday from 2-3pm, with Christian Goeckel. Usury has also helped with ESPN Savannah’s “High School Gameday” broadcasts and other live remotes. Originally from Decatur, Georgia, Usury was a two-time first-team all-region basketball player at Woodland High School in Stockbridge.

Self-described as “the biggest Lakers fan on this side of the Mississippi River”, Usury grew up idolizing the late Kobe Bryant, is an avid fan of the NBA and also has a passion for college football and the NFL. Usury enjoys playing basketball, playing video games and considers himself a true sneakerhead. With friends and former teammates now playing professional sports, Usury has always wanted to work for ESPN.

“I am a big believer in God, family and friends, so I honestly thank them for being by my side all the time, but now I’m ready to get to work,” Usury shared.

Usury’s role at ESPN Coastal will be a versatile one, with responsibilities ranging from on-air to production to social media and more.

“We are very excited to be able to add Kam to the team,” explained ESPN Coastal general manager Kevin Thomas, host of “Three & Out” with B.J. Bennett and Ben Troupe from 3-6pm Monday-Friday. “As we continue to grow, he is going to help us get to the next level.”

Already with a proven brand, Usury will be another talent on the ESPN Coastal roster.

“I am grateful for all of the work Kam has done on ‘Second Down’. He is uber talented and is only going to do so much more,” Goeckel added.
