It was a crisp beautiful day in Brunswick and a perfect day to play ball.

Adam Wainwright was raised in Glynn County, graduated from Glynn Academy and was drafted straight from high school to the Atlanta Braves.  He was eventually traded to the St. Louis Cardinals.

Wainwright donated 1 million dollars to Glynn Academy to build the best high school baseball complex in the state. The complex includes an indoor practice facility, baseball and softball fields, as well as a track field.

When interviewed by Ben Troupe of “Three and Out” Wainwright was asked, “After all of your accomplishment where does this stack up?” he responded, “It means a lot to me and is a great honor and I am hoping that one of these young boys will make it big one day and they will come back and do something in their community just as special, because they have given a lot to me and I want to give a lot to them back.”

Glynn Academy beat Brantley 7-4 to open the new stadium.
