Travis Blackshear is living up to his preseason All-SoCon honors. The junior out of Benedictine Military School has become a bonafide star for the Paladins.

Blackshear recorded his fourth interception in six games Saturday, helping Furman secure a conference win over The Citadel.

Trailing 17-7 late in the second quarter, The Citadel was looking to put some points on the board prior to halftime. Bulldogs quarterback Jaylan Adams tried to push the ball down the center of the field, but the ball bounced off of his receiver’s hands, right into Blackshear’s.

Travis Blackshear is currently tied with Chattanooga’s Brandon Dowdell for the conference lead in interceptions. The Furman record for a season belongs to Vince Perone Jr. in 1972 with 10.
