Sean Pender has resigned as head football coach at Brunswick High School after 5 seasons. He has accepted the same position at North Hall High School in Gainesville, Georgia.
Pender’s resignation, as well as statements from Glynn County Athletics & Athletic Director Steve Waters, can be read below.
A statement from Sean Pender:
The High,
“All about the family” has been our football motto here at Brunswick High School and I can truly say I am
extremely blessed for the opportunity to have served as the Head Football coach. My family and I have
been embraced by this community and will be forever grateful for being apart of it. Together, we have
built a championship caliber program with a fantastic coaching staff and awesome student-athletes.
The BHS football staff are my brothers and I will miss all of the camaraderie we shared. The thirsty
Thursdays, the golf outings, the unity walk, the war room conversations, practice preparations and
games are forever edged in my head and heart.
To my players, I Love You! I wish you all the success in the world. Keep that championship mindset and
attack. Go after what is really important to you and don’t give up. No matter what, Play hard, Have Fun,
and Expect to Win. Always remember to turn the got to into a get to and make excuses to do instead of
not to do.
To the administration, thank you for all of your support. Slade Turner, Steve Waters, and Scott Spence
thank you for taking a chance on me. I hope we made you proud.
Kipp Branch, the voice of the pirates, and wife Sandra Branch you mean a lot to the Pender family. We
love you. Thanks for being our friend and always having our backs.
To the rest of the Brunswick High staff and support groups, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Our family will miss you. And, we also know THAT ONCE A PIRATE ALWAYS A PIRATE!!!
WE Love You,
Coach Sean Pender and family.
Official Statement from Glynn County Schools
Coach Sean Pender has officially accepted the position of Head Football Coach at North Hall High School. The Glynn County School Board will meet in February and will vote on releasing Coach Pender from his Contract with the Glynn County School System.
The Glynn County School System will post and accept applications for the position of Head Football Coach at Brunswick High School immediately. The goal is to have a new Head Football Coach at Brunswick High named as soon as possible.
Statement from Steve Waters – Executive Director of Athletics & Facilities
Coach Pender informed us this morning that he was officially leaving his position of Head Football Coach at Brunswick High School and moving to North Georgia to become the new Head Football Coach at North Hall High School. Coach Pender has been up front with leadership within our school system for a few weeks now and we appreciate his professionalism throughout this process. Coach Pender took over a program that was at rock bottom and he has revived the culture of Brunswick High Football. He has built a family atmosphere within the football program. On the field, his record speaks for itself. He leaves with the highest winning percentage of any coach in Brunswick High Football History and two region championships. We cannot thank Coach Pender enough for his leadership and service to Brunswick High and Glynn County. He will be missed.
Moving forward, Dr. Scott Spence, Superintendent for Glynn County Schools, has tasked me with the responsibility to find a new Head Football Coach that can not only continue the success of Coach Pender, but to build and improve upon that success the football program has established. Brunswick High Football is a great job and I look forward to working with Principal Slade Turner as we work hard to find and name a New Head Football Coach in the very near future.
