2018 NFL Draft 1st Round Grades

Cody Queen, ESPN Coastal Senior NFL Writer

  1. Browns – Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma

Grade – C+

I’m a fan of Baker Mayfield, but I do not think any of these QBs were worth a top 5 pick.

  1. Giants – Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State

Grade – C

Saquon is an extremely talented running back, and will make that offense very dangerous. I just feel like this draft has more than enough running backs and you didn’t need to draft a RB that high.

  1. Jets – Sam Darnold, QB, USC

Grade – B

Sam Darnold is a professional and this was a safe pick when it comes to that. Rosen is already yapping and Josh Allen has twitter drama.

  1. Browns – Denzel Ward, CB, Ohio State

Grade – C

The Browns completely ruined this draft.

  1. Broncos – Bradley Chubb, DE, NCST

Grade – A+

Denver got a steal in this pick. Chubb is a terror and the rest of the NFL just gasped when they saw Elway get this man. The Chubb and Miller duo will have a lot of offenses afraid.

  1. Colts – Quenton Nelson, G, ND

Grade – A

This is the best OL prospect in the draft. If they want Luck to last a whole season then they need this man child to protect him like old people protecting their clicker when they’re napping.

  1. Bills – Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming

Grade – D

I am not a Josh Allen fan and refuse to jump on this band wagon. He is a 3rd string QB in the NFL and the Bills, once again, cannot get it right.

  1. Bears – Roquan Smith, LB, UGA

Grade – A+

Finally, the Bears are going to get Urlacher 2.0. He is an upgraded version of Urlacher and is the best defensive player in the draft in my eyes.

  1. 49ers – Mike McGlinchey, OT, ND

Grade – C

The 49ers needed to upgrade the OL but they took an offensive lineman who is less talented than fellow prospect guard Will Hernandez. They need a left guard desperately and missed their shot.

  1. Cardinals – Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA

Grade – B

The Cardinals moved up to get Rosen. I would not have advised that since I am not big on this year’s crop of QBs. He should not start in front of Sam Bradford. He should be learning and hopefully be the future of the Cardinals…. Hopefully.
